1up.com has an article about the fake pre-E3 Nintendo On video created by a 23 year old guy. I think it is interesting to reflect on players' expectations when facing a new line of consoles that is about to be launched. The fake video obviously draws from the VR, Holodeck-style mythology and does a good work at it. Fake corporate videos have been the new demo scene for quite a while. If a couple of guys on their basement can fool a couple of millions, imagine what you could do with professionals. I lost my innocence when watching Jurassic Park. I argued at the time that if the dinosaur sequences would have been distributed as a National Geographic documentary, I would have been convinced of the existence of prehistoric creatures. Well, I did watch Jurassic Park a while ago and I could tell the CGI behind it - but that's only after a decade of training our eyes on CGI wonders. After all, we all want to believe, right?
